I just had another idea recently for a workaround to the trial member map choice limitation:
Why don't people (with a pro account) who do not use their full capacity of 30 storable maps use that space to make some maps (or versions of existing maps) with a blue "dummy" player start. The pro player would start the map, invite some players "on trial" and abandon after starting the game in the first turn.
This wouldn't cost the benefactor nothing but a few clicks and map storage space.
